I attended elementary, junior high and high school in Big Spring, Texas.  After high school graduation, I stayed in Big Spring for 2 years and went to Howard Jr. College.  I completed my undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University. I attended Abilene Christian University where I received my graduate degree in Educational Leadership.

I have attended numerous conferences and workshops throughout my years in education. They have ranged from SPLASH (early childhood), Solution Tree (PLC’s), and NWEA conferences.  Each of these have given me new ideas, reassured some old thoughts and sometimes stretched my comfort zone. 

However, the one that has impacted me most in my personal and school life is the Conscious Discipline Institute that I first attended in Florida in 2006.  This is a social-emotional regulation conference/workshop that teaches skills to help students and adults alike learn to self-regulate their emotions. Since that time I have facilitated the implementation of these skills that allows students to cope with everyday issues in several school districts.  I have been blessed to work these week long  Conscious Discipline Institutes in Abilene, TX, Baltimore, MD, Rochester, MN over summer breaks. Here at Bushland Elementary there have been about 15 staff members that have also attended these institutes or workshops.  We as a staff want to insure that we are helping students and adults with these skills.
