I came to Bushland in 2008 and taught 1st grade my first year here. I moved to kindergarten the next year and stayed there for 7 wonderful years. I was given the opportunity in 2017 to take an intervention position working with students with dyslexia. While a little apprehensive, I felt the Lord calling me to this position. I will be starting my 3rd year of it this year and I love working with these struggling readers that have so much to offer this world!
I taught 2nd grade for two years right out of college in McCamey, TX. I started having babies and decided to move back to Amarillo where our family was and I was a stay at home mom for the next 10 years. For 5 of those years I worked part-time at Kid University Preschool teaching prek. When I was ready to go back to public school I first became a TAKS tutor at Whittier Elementary and then got a teaching position in their PreK. I moved to Woodlands Elementary and taught kindergarten there for 3 years before I decided to teach in Bushland.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Kyle, for 26 years. We have 3 boys that we have chased around from sporting event to sporting event for the last 19 years. My oldest two graduated from Bushland High School and my youngest is a senior this year. It goes way too fast! We live in Amarillo & have one rescue dog that is part greyhound. His name is Gaines and we have grown to love him so much.💙
When I’m not teaching I enjoy hanging out with our church life group and our friends, reading, playing games, patio sitting in the backyard, and decorating anything...my house, for holidays, cookies, etc. :)
